Through a string of anecdotes, Not So Common attempts to guide the reader to determine who in their life would most benefit from reading this book or whether they should take a closer look at it themselves. It's a quick read with little pearls scattered throughout. My favorite: "An important part of mindfulness is knowing when to shut the F*** up!"

A Hilarious and Surprisingly Insightful Guide to Everyday Decisions.
I picked up Not So Common: Simple Solutions for Smarter Everyday Decisions expecting a lighthearted read, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much wisdom was packed into its pages. Lynn and Mandy have mastered the art of blending humor with genuinely useful advice, making this book both entertaining and thought-provoking.
From the very first chapter, I felt like I was having a conversation with a brutally honest friend - the kind who will call you out for your ridiculous habits but also offer a practical way to fix them, The authors dive into the quirks of human decision-making, exposing the small but impactful choices we make every day (and often regret). Whether it's the internal debate over ordering takeout, the art of waiting patiently, or the ill-advised late-night text, they break down why we do what we do and how to do it better.
What I loved most about this book was it's balance between humor and self-improvement. So many books in the self-help genre tend to be preachy, but Not So Common takes the opposite approach. The authors acknowledge that we all make bad decisions, sometimes repeatedly, and rather that shaming us for it, they offer relatable stories, witty observations, and practical strategies to help us course-correct.
Another highlight is how easy it is to read. The writing in conversational, engaging, and full of laugh-out-loud moments. But beyond the humor, there are real takeaways here - things I found myself thinking about long after I put the book down.
If you've ever looked back on a decision and thought, Why did I do that?, this book is for you. It's an entertaining guide to making smarter choices in everyday life, and it just might save you from your next embarrassing mistake.
Highly recommend!
